As policy makers continue to wait for clearer signals that persistent inflationary pressures have subsided, most central banks have opted to keep rates unchanged. The European Central Bank has maintained their interest rate at 4.5% while the Bank of England has kept their rate at the highest level since 2008 of 5.25%. Although the Fed Chair, Jerome Powell signalled that rate cuts “can and will begin” this year during the March Congressional Meeting, the US Federal Reserve has opted to keep rates unchanged at 5.25%.
